Speed
Speed is an important aspect of Blitz. With only 1 minute, you need to move fast to get a lot of multipliers and to get BLAZING SPEED. So as soon as you spot a gem, move it, but keep an eye out for another one or two possible moves. You need to spot a few different possible moves across the board from the move you're making, so that the gems nearby don't shift and screw up your future moves. I look for a few different moves just in case a star or flame gem explodes and screw up one of your next moves. Always have backups just in case.

Multipliers
Multipliers are the key to getting a high score. You need to get an x2 multiplier pretty quickly by trying to create a STAR or FLAME gem. Survey the board before the game starts, and look for any possible ways to get one. You can start swapping gems before the word GO, so make sure you do!
If you see a multiplier on the board, try to get it as fast as possible, but don't give up your combo! If you can't match the multiplier, move gems around it to try to get a match. If you have a HYPERCUBE handy, use it on the color of the multiplier. I usually save my hypercubes until I see a multiplier so I can get it as quickly as possible. If the gems surrounding the hypercube aren't the color of the multiplier, just use it on any one. You just have to hope that the multiplier drops into a favorable spot.
To get a high score, over 350,000, you need to have at least x4 or x5. If you want a score of 600,000 and above, you need x7 or x8. It's tough to get that in a minute, so you may need to use BOOSTS at the beginning of the game. You can buy boosts with coins earned from playing the game. Coins are random and are found on yellow gems. More on boosts in the next post.

Welcome
Bejeweled Blitz is one of the most popular social games on Facebook. If you're here, you probably already know what the game is about, but if you're lost, Blitz is a match-3 game, where you match like-colored gems to get points and create combos, gaining multipliers and special gems from matching 4 or 5 gems. I've been playing this game for a 1.5-2 years, so I know the tricks..trust me. No cheats here though. If you're after ways to cheat, go somewhere else.
I'll teach you how to be a better Bejeweled Blitz player so you can beat your friends every week and have eternal bragging rights.
Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good. You'll notice this, as a random person gets to the #1 spot one week, and you have no idea how. Bejeweled is really a game of luck, with a bit of skill involved in affecting the outcome.
Next post will detail some basic strategies and hints.
